  • You will ensure product reliability through testing, analyze data, monitor field performance, conduct risk assessments, and coordinate third-party tests with limited travel.

Requirements

  • Interest in how things work, how things fail, why things fail, and how they can be improved.
  • Able to scrutinize and interpret literature, reports, and data in order to provide meaningful recommendations.
  • Knowledge of statistics.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to operate effectively in highly technical and multi project environment.
  • Comfortable discussing issues with higher management and customers.
  • Graduation from an BSc. or MSc. program in electrical engineering, optical engineering, physics, etc.
  • Advantageous for the position:
  • Previous work experience in a reliability, product qualification, failure analysis, design engineering, process engineering, or compliance function.
  • Knowledge of electronics, optics and optical communication systems.
  • Knowledge of electronic and optical manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of electrical and optical components (e.g., ICs, FPGAs, Interconnects, LASERs, Optical Detectors, Switches, WSS, MEMs, LCOS, etc.)
  • Familiarity with optical and electrical measurement equipment.
  • Knowledge of IEC, JEDEC, and Telcordia Qualification Standards.
  • ASQ CRE, Six Sigma
  • Knowledge of Weibull++, BlockSim, Jump.

Responsibilities

  • Work with cross-functional product development teams to ensure product reliability and durability exceeds customer requirements, industry standards, and market expectations.
  • Define, Plan, schedule, and oversee qualification and reliability testing on raw materials, sub-components, and finished products. Work with a team of test engineers and technicians to ensure testing is completed on time.
  • Predict failure rate and availability for new products.
  • Apply engineering judgement to select appropriate tests, measurement parameters, and acceptance criteria to align with field conditions and target lifetime.
  • Analyze data and report on findings. Identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor and report on the field reliability of deployed products. Compare with predictions.
  • Perform reliability risk assessments for quality excursions. Apply physics of failure, acceleration modeling, experimentation, etc.
  • Work with external labs to coordinate and perform third-party testing (e.g., NEBs, EMI/EMC, Electrical Safety, and LASER Safety). This will require limited travel to set-up and operate equipment.
