Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted and strategic Business Partner by responding quickly with accuracy, compassion, and critical thought. When the business comes to you for support, you won’t stop at providing the easiest surface-level answer. You’ll seek to understand where the inquiry is rooted and why, and you’ll deliver counsel that not only answers the question but solves a deeper problem and connects dots that are hard for others to see.
  • Support leaders to build, develop, and retain the very best teams. You’ll blend the science of data-driven analysis and the art of understanding human behavior to advise leaders on what’s working well and what they need to change to create best-in-class teams. You’ll review and analyze new hire surveys, exit surveys, employee engagement surveys, turnover numbers, demographic data, industry trends, and more to help leaders action plan strategies to remain competitive. You’ll coach leaders to hold effective 1:1s, build meaningful Career Development Plans, and provide impactful support which allows employees to learn and grow in their careers with Nutrien.
  • Lead or partner on HR Projects, Processes, and Initiatives. You will drive annual processes for your groups such as Talent Review, Succession Planning, Performance Management & Calibration, Career Development Plans, and Talent Profiles. You will be responsible for joining one or more project teams in support of organizational initiatives and 5-year plans.
  • Deliver excellence in HRBP fundamentals: You’ll conduct employee relations investigations with competence, in partnership with Legal, Integrity, and/or other HRBPs. You’ll maintain reliability and consistency delivering on employee needs like resolving payroll issues, data changes, and process breakdowns. You’ll regularly meet 1:1 with the leaders you support. You’ll join team meetings, adding value to the conversation and listening for ways to proactively provide support before being explicitly asked. You’ll participate in the implementation of company and business unit strategies, programs, and processes (salary administration, annual compensation cycle, benefit programs, performance management, employee on-boarding and off-boarding activities). You’ll need to manage your data carefully to ensure it’s accurate and clean.
  • Partner with COEs to resolve employee issues quickly, with empathy and personal ownership, and to deliver an overall excellent employee experience where people feel heard, valued, appreciated, and safe. Whatever problem comes up is the most important thing in the world to the employee facing that problem at that time. You will jump in to determine what caused the issue and what steps need to be taken to resolve it quickly with minimal disruption to the employee. If there are other groups responsible for resolving parts of the issue, you will facilitate and monitor who is responsible for what and by when it will get done. After the problem is resolved, you’ll seek to understand how it came to be and what can be implemented to prevent it from happening again, then follow up with other stakeholders to ensure alignment.
  • Always be improving. Engage a continuous improvement mindset that challenges the status quo and constantly scans the environment for better or more efficient ways to deliver outcomes. Participate in transformational change and organizational design processes. Speak up and ensure your ideas and observations to improve the employee experience are heard.
  • Safeguard employee privacy, demonstrating the utmost commitment to maintaining confidentiality and protection of sensitive information.
  • Coach and mentor colleagues. While this role will not have any direct reports, this Senior Advisor position will be expected to coach, mentor, and have some leadership responsibilities in support of the other HRBPs on the team.
