Responsibilities

  • Managing the Group’s existing portfolio of energy contracts to support timely renewal and or termination negotiations.
  • Advising on contentious matters or litigation relating to the Group’s existing energy portfolio, with the assistance of external counsel where required.
  • Advising, and providing training, on key regulatory and legislative developments in the energy and utilities sectors where of potential relevance to the Group’s energy portfolio and energy projects.
  • Working closely with the Group Energy procurement team to advise on, and negotiate:
  • Major energy supply and service agreements.
  • Physical supply contracts.
  • Commodity hedging arrangements.
  • Energy CAPEX contracts and related supply agreements.
  • Energy subsidies (with an understanding of related EU legislation).
  • Energy sale agreements.
  • Carbon reduction agreements.
  • Agreements related to GOs and PPAs.
  • Supporting major CAPEX projects, specifically any such Energy focussed projects.
  • Advising project teams on legal issues throughout the life of such projects.
  • Working closely with the Energy and CAPEX teams to assess potential future decarbonisation opportunities.
  • Managing external counsel to ensure appropriate and cost-effective legal support is provided where required.
  • Advising on key development, construction, commercial, service and supply agreements in conjunction with external counsel.
