Requirements

  • Minimum education required: Post-Secondary Education in Business / Science / Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 6-8 years of increasing responsibility in merchandising and/or cost analytics
  • Exceptional storytelling skills with a proven ability to successfully influence and manage stakeholder engagement
  • Methodical and strategic thinker who deploys sound frameworks to problem solve and solution concepts for testing and development
  • Loves connecting the dots through data and motived to develop technology to augment business processes and decision making

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy and planning for the cost analytics program at Walmart Canada, influencing and aligning with senior merchant leadership (CMO, SVPs, VPs) and corporate leadership (CEO, CFO), on approach, prioritization, and execution.
  • Oversee the implementation of new processes or improvements to the existing processes supporting annual cost analytics program. (The cost-analytics program delivers $100m+ in incremental cost investments annually)
  • Lead the execution of the VIP (vendor investment program) – that delivers $150m+ investments every year
  • Oversees delivery of category strategy and annual negotiation processes across all SBUs, aligning strategy with business goals to achieve cost reduction and inform execution and monitoring post implementation performance and implementation of corrective actions
  • Leads working sessions with Merch VPs/SVPs, and DMMs for new processes and complex categories, advises on approach for non-standard or complex scenarios to ensure targets are achieved, and leads development of negotiation approach and key messages.
  • Develops standard supplier communications consistent with legal and compliance rules, overseeing all supplier communications and ensuring proper approval processes are followed.
  • Sets team strategy for selection and prioritization of categories, including delivering training and leading category manager working sessions and providing direction to team.
  • Sets process and leads execution of supplier engagement processes by determining cadence and materials, leading content development for supplier communications, and managing ad hoc supplier engagements.
  • If applicable, develops and implements strategy for multiple teams and/or areas of responsibility by managing subordinate managers, contributing to the development and implementation of team strategies, and leading alignment to defined business strategy.
