Requirements

  • - Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
  • - At least 5 years of experience working in the broadcast industry in positions related to IP technologies
  • - Proven experience working with:
  • - Networking protocols and network equipment configurations
  • - Cloud computing platforms, including media related workflows
  • - Video streaming technologies (HLS, SRT…)
  • - Video encoding technologies and products
  • - Experience coordinating teams of at least 3 people including progress follow up, goals achievement, shift coordination, etc.
  • - Experience with container-based infrastructure (Docker)
  • - AWS Certified Solutions Architect or similar experience
  • - Strong knowledge and experience in server, storage and network virtualization (VMWare, Hypervisor, KVM)
  • - Ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders and to solve problems quickly and efficiently
  • - Proven experience in the design and implementation of broadcast infrastructure
  • - Proven experience providing support services for broadcast events
  • - Experience participating in the broadcast production of sports events
  • - Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems
  • - Ability to build scripts to automate repetitive tasks in Python
  • - Ability to administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Storage Area Networks (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS)
  • - CCNA certificate or similar experience
  • - Experience with networking equipment for media transport (e.g. Cisco, NetInsight)
  • - Understanding of the SMPTE standards related to video over IP technologies (ST2110, ST2022-7, ST2022, ST2059-2)
  • - VMware Certified Professional – Data Centre or similar experience

Responsibilities

  • - Manage the project time plan and ensure that deadlines and milestones are met.
  • - Perform RFQs and RFPs following OBS’s procurement procedures.
  • - Manage the budget allocated to the Virtualization project.
  • - Elaborate the operations org chart for the team during the Olympic Games interviewing and selecting the right candidates for engineering positions in the Virtualization team.
  • - Organize shifts and lead the team of engineers during the implementation and support phases.
  • - Coordinate and assign tasks and tickets between team members.
  • - Interaction and cooperation with vendors and service providers for the execution of the projects.
  • - Participate in a working group responsible for the deployment and development of the broadcast infrastructure for the Olympic Games, sharing knowledge with the rest of the team and reporting issues to management when necessary.
  • - Design Cloud and IT solutions providing ideas and proposal for the implementation based on technical and functional requirements.
  • - Coordinate the deployment of the Virtualization infrastructure with the installation’s team at the host city of the Olympic Games.
  • - Elaborate technical documentation for the implementation of the Cloud and IT systems including detailed system diagrams, cable lists and rack layouts.
  • - Responsible of Cloud based solutions in coordination with the Broadcast Systems department elaborating the designs, carrying out the deployment, and running the operation of the systems.
  • - Manage OS in different systems (Linux and Windows) providing support to other areas withing the Broadcast Systems department.
  • - Work with internet-based video transport protocols (SRT, HLS), and with software-based video encoders and transcoders.
  • - Responsible to monitor all the critical systems in place for the operation (Elasticsearch, Grafana, Prometheus, Zabbix).
  • - Participate in the definition of Cyber-security measures and implement in the broadcast systems.
  • - Product owner in SW development processes following SCRUM methodology.
