What is the primary responsibility of the Sr. Staff Equipment Engineer - Control and Integration at Bloom Energy?
The primary responsibility of the Sr. Staff Equipment Engineer is to support the manufacturing and development of fuel cell stack manufacturing equipment, manage day-to-day equipment issues in a production environment related to Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and develop custom interfaces and APIs between production equipment and MES.
What qualifications are required for this position?
Candidates are required to have a BS or MS degree in computer engineering, computer science, or a related field. They should also have extensive (5-10 years) experience in Equipment Engineering supporting high-volume manufacturing.
What types of experience should applicants have in systems integration?
Applicants should have experience in creating custom machine interfaces between equipment controllers and Factory Information Systems, using protocols such as OPC_UA, MQTT, Serial communication, and REST API.
What programming skills are necessary for this role?
Candidates should be experienced in programming languages such as C++ and C#, as well as database programming.
Are there specific hardware and communication protocols the candidate should be familiar with?
Yes, candidates should have experience with setting up and maintaining TCP/IP, Serial communication, and industrial network protocols, including Modbus, DeviceNet, Profibus, or EtherNet/IP.

Yes, experience with PLCs, HMIs, motion control, and material handling systems, including robotics from brands like Allen Bradley, Omron, Siemens, Adept, or Fanuc, is preferred.
