“War doesn't negate decency. It demands it, even more than in times of peace.” - Khaled Hosseini
KCL Afghan Welfare Society consists of a group of enthusiastic & passionate students at King’s, first & foremost campaigning to spread awareness & proceeds for the forgotten people endlessly suffering in Afghanistan. We aim to provide a wide variety of events including outreach initiatives, awareness programmes, opportunities for charity and cultural events.
We welcome anyone interested in Afghan welfare, culture, current affairs and networking opportunities! With our meet & greet events at the start of the year to kick things off, we run a series of events throughout the year, predominantly raising money for welfare causes & charity for the Afghan people. We are also well known for our successful Afghan Charity Week, held annually at KCL; a jam-packed week full of bake sales, goodies and fun events! The total proceeds raised from this week go to designated charities based in Afghanistan, working in all sectors from emergency services, basic food & hygiene, to education and community restoration. The events & charity week wouldn’t be as successful without our eager & passionate volunteers!
Every year we come together as a community, and as well as creating life-changing opportunities for all those much less fortunate in Afghanistan, we create memories, friends and more. Our past popular events include the likes of; Poetry & Chai, Cultural Night, Debate Night, Movie Night, and more!We look forward to welcoming you all this year and hope to see you all very soon!
