LSESU Beekeeping society is all about raising awareness of the necessity of bees for the environment, through learning about the wonders of beekeeping and having fun at the same time! Our five urban hives on the roof of Connaught House on campus are a very unique and important opportunity to get involved with while at LSE.We work with a professional beekeeper to maintain and develop our hives, who we coordinate our frequent hive visits alongside. We also sell LSE honey, spread awareness about bees, host social events like honey tasting, beeswax soap making and various pub quizzes, fundraise for bee-related charities, go on trips to urban gardens and hives, organise social and educational events with other societies and have volunteering roles available! Our society has a lot to offer, and we can’t wait to welcome you!
Membership By purchasing a membership, you will be able to join us for visits to our campus’ beehives, which we organize in collaboration with our onsite beekeeper. You’ll get involved with the bees, learning how to harvest and bottle honey, which we sell on campus yearly. Membership will come with a welcome package filled with bee-related gifts (such as a facemask and honey sticks!), which will be distributed in the coming weeks. We’ll be taking members on trips to parks and gardens around London, such as the Regent's ParkWe will also put on various social events, both within our society and alongside others, to meet other people invested in the environment and the fun of beekeeping!Members will be directly involved with bee-conservation charities, where we will have volunteering roles available and raise money to help maintain UK and global bee populations. While a Beekeeping society membership will mean various fun and social events, you will have the chance to do your bit for the environment at the same time!
