The Sustainable Engineering Initiative is a student-led society at the University of Manchester that appeals to those passionate about sustainability. Our aim is to upskill our members through various avenues:
We offer technical projects supported by university faculty, which provide members with hands-on experience in innovative technologies and collaboration within a professional setting.
Members will contribute to community projects that address on-campus sustainability issues with practical engineering solutions, requiring group problem-solving and offering leadership opportunities. There are a wide range of skills required to operate these projects and we emphasise that skills outside of Engineering are most welcome and in demand.
Throughout the academic year, we will host talks and organise site visits to companies involved in innovative technologies, helping to inform, inspire, and connect our members with the industry. Additionally we have several workshops planned, in which members will partake in educational team building exercises.
With all of this, SEI's core goal is to connect and mobilize like-minded students, demonstrating that through collaboration and ingenuity, progress is possible, and our members can drive it.
