Medieval Society

Want to learn about the past or maybe even experience a bit of it yourself and escape the troubles of today? Then the Medieval Society is for you. We are a non-specialist society welcoming students from all disciplines and backgrounds - the only requirement is an interest in the past! Throughout the year we run a broad variety of academic and social events: - lectures on various topics by some of the best medievalists- tours and visits to historical sites in London and beyond- pub crawls, quizzes, and other medieval-themed socials- workshops on medieval craft (including HEMA workshops/Swordsmanship classes) or art (Gregorian choir, dancing)- and always listening to your suggestions, we are happy to add many more! We usually run between 1-3 events per month so you can commit as much time as you like, as the society is fun and low-maintenance. In 2021/2022, we offer two types of memberships:REMOTE MEMBERSHIP - members get access to all online and free in-person eventsSTANDARD MEMBERSHIP - members get other great benefits, including free refreshments at academic events, access to all our events under £10 for free and reduced prices on all events over £10.  We look forward to meeting you!
