University College London United Nations Association (UCLUNA) is the official branch of the UNA UK at UCL. UCLUNA aims to raise awareness and provide opportunities to experience the work of the United Nations (UN), Model United Nations (MUN), international affairs, and diplomacy. Within a vibrant community of over 150 paid society members (2022/2023) for this year we are excited to bring to you: Our very own Conference (UCLMUN 2023), Travelling UCLUNA Delegations, Weekly Debates and Skills Sessions, Embassy Visits, Guest Speaker and Career Events, and Socials. We can’t wait to meet you in September!
As one of UCL’s most dynamic societies, we welcome students of all degree programmes, interests, backgrounds, and levels of experience at MUN, from first-time university novices to seasoned delegates. If you are interested in engaging with the United Nations or want to learn more about diplomacy in action or improve key research, debate, and communication skills, then this is the society for you.
What is our Agenda for 2023/2024?
UCLMUN 2023 | 24-26 November
In what promises to be our flagship event for the year, UCLUNA is making a comeback with its first MUN conference since 2018.
Our theme the “Reigniting Global Cooperation” will be happening in line with major structural reforms of the UN within the next two years. With six committees ranging from beginner to advanced and with approximately 150 delegates, this conference, particularly the “Summit of the Future” committee, will serve as a testing ground for what our generation wants to see change at the UN and global politics. Resolutions made at this conference will be analysed by our partner NGO, Coalition for the UN We Need, and very possibly the UN itself.

Travelling UCLUNA Delegations
In addition to UCLMUN this November, we are looking forward to sending out partially subsidised delegations to conferences with a range of size and difficulties. This will be the best way to put into practice what you have gained from our weekly debates and seminar sessions. Even better, go for the Best Committee Delegate Award. UCL needs you!
This year we are looking into: ULMUN, HULTMUN, WARMUN, LSEMUN, LIMUN, OXMUN, CAMMUN, and SCOTMUN and more! Details to be released soon. Provided demand, we also can arrange delegations overseas, such as our HarvardxWorldMUN team in 2022/2023.
Weekly Debates and Skills Sessions
Every week on Tuesday, from 630PM - 830PM, UCLUNA hold training sessions in the form of MUN simulations and skills seminars. These will be curated to be both accessible for both beginners and entertaining for veterans. Through these you will develop your research, debate, and communication skills to put you in the best position to compete and win awards at UCLMUN 2023 and other conferences. Recent debates have included the Korean War, the return and restitution of ancient artefacts, climate, and security in Africa. Note: Venues will be updated weekly on the @ucl.una instagram page.
Embassy Visits
At the heart of London, UCLUNA this year is fortunate to be welcoming members to embassies from Europe to Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas. (hint: out first will be the High Commission India on October 13). These will serve as an unparalleled in-person opportunities to understand a wide spectrum of geopolitical viewpoints, how the world of diplomacy works, in addition to the chance to network with diplomats, ambassadors, and more.
Guest Speaker and Career Events
With regular careers and speakers’ events, UCLUNA is committed to broadening and deepening its members’ understanding of past, present, and future challenges of the United Nations, diplomacy, international relations, and careers within the field. Recently we have welcomed guest speakers from the Stimson Centre, European Commission, and ex-NATO to discuss topics ranging from reform of the UN, energy diplomacy, and international development.
This year we are also exploring possible partnerships to offer diplomacy-related career experience.
