The Madison Mallards are a Summer Collegiate Baseball team part of the Northwoods League. The Northwoods League has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other league in North America.

The Madison Mallards averaged 6,249 fans per game in 2018, coming in first place among Collegiate Summer Baseball teams for average attendance per game. In 2017 we were named the Ballpark Digest "Ballpark Renovation of the Year"​ after completing a 2.5 million dollar renovation to the Great Dane Duck Blind.

You will perform as the mascot at games and events, engage with fans, collaborate with teams, attend sports classes, assist in stadium prep, and support other departments as needed.

<div><div>The Marketing and Mascot Intern will serve as an integral part of the Madison Mallards marketing and entertainment team. You will embody &ldquo;Maynard G. Mallard,&rdquo; our fun, charismatic, and larger-than-life mascot, bringing energy, excitement, and joy to fans at games, community events, and appearances. This hands-on internship is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in sports marketing and entertainment.</div><div><br>

Mascot Performances</b>:<ul><li>
Must ride the Zipline</li><li>
Participate as &quot;Maynard G. Mallard&quot; during all Mallards home games and various community events and appearances.</li><li>
Interact with fans, including children, in a lively, engaging, and professional manner.</li></ul></li><li><b>
Fan Engagement:</b><ul><li>
Facilitate fan interactions during breaks and in between innings.</li><li>
Appear at Mallards-related events such as school visits, parades, and sponsor functions.</li><li>
Assist in promoting team spirit and special events by interacting with the crowd.</li></ul></li><li><b>
Team Collaboration</b>:<ul><li>
Work closely with the marketing, promotions, and game-day operations teams to ensure mascot appearances align with the overall event goals.</li><li>
Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions to develop new mascot ideas.</li><li>
Attend scheduled Sports Business classes, produced for the benefit of the Intern class.</li><li>
Assist other departments as needed, including stadium prep work during pre-season and pre/post-game.</li><li>
Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of management.</li></ul></li></ul><div><br>

Must provide your own transportation to attend mascot engagements with the costume at the Mallards stadium and locations around the Greater Madison area.</li><li>
Complete a background check (including driving history) with a verdict that supports the ability to perform job duties.</li><li>
Physical stamina and flexibility to perform for extended periods</li><li>
Outgoing and friendly personality</li><li>

About the Madison Mallards &amp; Madison Night Mares:</b></div><div>
The Mallards are one of the largest and most successful summer collegiate baseball teams in the nation attracting more than 200,000 fans each summer. The Night Mares debuted in 2024 as an inaugural Northwoods League Softball team. In just one year, they became the highest attended summer collegiate softball team and look to continue to grow in year two. The Mallards &amp; Night Mares annually hire more than 20 intern positions for the season, who may also have the opportunity to gain experience at other Madison based teams &amp; events throughout the summer. Many of our full-time staff completed an internship or seasonal position with us prior to their full-time employment. Former interns have gone on to work for the Carolina Panthers, Milwaukee Brewers, Arizona Diamondbacks, Green Bay Packers, and various minor league and summer collegiate league teams across the nation.</div><div></div><div><i><br>
It is recommended, </i><b><i>but not required,</i></b><i> for our internships to go towards college credits. All Interns will be required to participate in weekly sports management workshops and external community baseball clinics.</i></div><div><br>
