The HR Specialist, Retail for Roots will be responsible for the following: * Collaborate with retail leaders to build and maintain health and safety practices across all locations. This includes ensuring all training and compliance requirements are met, monthly review of Health and Safety inspections and management of WSIB & WCB claims * Work with the Director, Human Resources as necessary to support the resolution of employee relations matters * Manage and maintain Dayforce (HRIS) for the retail population through but not limited to the set up of employee files, workflow administration, performance management and goal setting set up. * Manage medical leaves and leave of absence communication with all employees * Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for the retail population including turnover, exit interviews, onboarding surveys, LOA etc. * Maintain policies and trainings for retail population and update as required * Support with administration, communications and training of all cyclical processes as they relate to the retail business (performance reviews, merit, goal setting) * Manage and respond to inquiries that are sent to the general HR mailbox  * Assist with Ad Hoc HR project completion and meets required deadlines * Support the life cycle of retail recruitment  * Assist in the research and development of various human resource procedures, policies, and initiatives Top candidates for the HR Specialist, Retail role will have the following: * 3-5 years' experience supporting HR preferably in a retail organization * Post-secondary degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent * Working towards CHRP or CHRL/CHRE designation considered an asset * Bilingual (English, French) or multilingual proficiency is a plus * Current knowledge of HR practices and employment legislation * Knowledge of HRIS systems (Ceridian Dayforce preferred) * Ability to set priorities and undertake multiple tasks with tight deadlines * Effective in setting timelines, organizing work and communicating with team * Excellent communicator (written and verbal, formal and informal) * Strong customer service orientation * Must be able to represent Roots in a positive manner both internally and externally At Roots we appreciate that skills and expertise are cultivated through a range of experiences.
