Description
- The Global Risk & Compliance Organization (“GRC”) independently oversees the company’s risk-taking and risk management activities, including the comprehensive identification, management, and mitigation of risks within the Company’s risk appetite. GRC ensures the company operates in a safe, sound and fully compliant manner within all applicable regulatory expectations. We create and maintain the overall risk management framework and policies while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.

Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in full-time master’s, MBA or PhD degree program in quantitative fields such as Economic, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology
- Students must have a graduation date between December 2024 and June 2025
- Must be registered to attend Grace Hopper Conference
- Skills / Qualifications:
- Ability to handle large datasets using SAS, SQL, R, Python or another similar programming language
- Ability to organize, manage, analyze, and interpret large amounts of data to identify trends and themes
- Proven ability to translate highly technical and complex information into easily understandable terms
- Ability to think strategically and influence teammates on multiple, cross-functional teams
- Positive, can-do attitude embracing Growth Mindset
- Project management skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask
- Demonstrated experience building, sustaining and leveraging relationships.
- Strong work ethic, organizational skills and attention to detail with excellent follow-up skills
- Demonstrated willingness to take initiative and act decisively
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Preferred Qualifications:
- 0-3 years’ experience in Risk or related fields preferably with financial services
- Understanding and knowledge of banking industry
- Experience with data and quantitative analytics

Responsibilities
- Credit Risk: Monitor credit portfolios and oversee enterprise-wise credit risk management decisions and process via quantitative analytics. The candidate will work closely with credit risk teams to effectively challenge processes, policies, strategies, frameworks, and governance procedures designed.
- Risk Management and Risk Oversight: Responsible for managing AXP’s enterprise risk pillars through continuous reviewing, monitoring and testing across processes, strengthening AXP’s risk management practices, and monitoring emerging risks across the industry.
