Requirements

  • Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree that includes computer technology, digital content development or web development.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of technologies:
  • PDF accessibility and other digital document standards.
  • Web accessibility on various platforms including Windows and MacOS.
  • Mobile accessibility on various platforms, including Android and iOS (preferred).
  • Video and closed captioning (preferred).
  • Working proficiency and development skills in a minimum of one platform:
  • Web development – semantic HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WAI-ARIA.
  • Native app development (iOS and/or Android).
  • Knowledge of digital assistive technologies (screen readers, voice, and keyboarding).
  • Familiarity with tools for automated and guided accessibility testing (siteimprove or axe devtools).
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro preferred.
  • Excellence in teamwork, collaboration, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Required Equipment: Reliable Wi-Fi connection.
  • Minimum availability of 20 hrs/week, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.

Responsibilities

  • Perform accessibility audits of websites, applications, and documents against WCAG 2.1 guidelines.
  • Use accessibility testing tools (e.g., Axe, WAVE) and assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers like JAWS or NVDA) to identify issues.
  • Test and document usability for individuals with specific disabilities such as vision impairment, motor disabilities, and cognitive impairments.
  • Create documentation of best practices for designing accessible user interfaces and tools.
  • Assist in developing internal training materials to educate teams on accessibility compliance and inclusive design.
  • Support communication efforts by preparing reports on accessibility testing results and progress updates for stakeholders.
  • Research emerging accessibility regulations and trends to inform future initiatives.
  • Contribute ideas for innovative solutions to complex accessibility challenges.
