Requirements

  • You should be a self-starter who understands the needs of our audience across multiple platforms and is able to work independently under deadline pressure.
  • We’re looking for someone who demonstrates excellent news judgment, strong editing and sharp writing skills and has a sense of the ideal visual presentation for various platforms.
  • Familiarity with digital publishing and analytics tools is a plus.
  • You should have completed at least one prior reporting internship with another professional media organization or published exceptional work with a campus news outlet or as a freelancer.
  • Fluency in English is required and fluency in at least one additional European language is strongly preferred.
  • Applicants must have the right to work in the U.K.

Responsibilities

  • You will work closely with editors on the London news hub, a team that captures breaking news and is crucial in setting up the U.S. day for the best possible reader experience across all platforms and for every article published.
  • You will edit and publish news and feature articles at speed, with a focus on writing sharp headlines.
  • You will also help curate our native platforms such as the WSJ app, home page and social feeds, and off-platforms such as Google showcase and WhatsApp.
  • There might also be some opportunities to work with other reporters and editors on spot news and to generate your own story ideas for features.
