The incumbent must have completed the equivalent of one year of an accredited respiratory therapy educational program with a minimum GPA of 2.0 and must remain enrolled in the program while maintaining the required GPA throughout employment.

No prior experience in respiratory care is required, except for any clinical rotations completed as part of the incumbent's educational program.
What kind of patients will the Respiratory Therapy Intern work with?
The intern will work with patients across various age groups, including pediatric (ages 13 months to 11 years), adolescent (ages 12 to 17), adult (ages 18 to 65), and geriatric (ages 66 and over).
What certifications are required for this internship?
The incumbent must hold a Limited Mandatory Certificate issued by the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care, and must maintain this licensure throughout employment. Additionally, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
