What is the primary purpose of the Student Dietitian Clinical Placement?
The primary purpose is to support FMCNA's mission by providing medical nutrition therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a registered dietitian.
What are the qualifications required for this internship?
Candidates must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics, or be currently enrolled in an accredited Coordinated Program in Dietetics.
Who supervises the dietetic interns?
The Clinical Manager assigns and closely monitors all Dietetic Intern assignments with direct supervision from a Registered Dietitian.
Can a dietetic intern work with family members as patients?
No, an intern cannot work under the supervision of a family member or care for a patient who is a family member.
What kind of tasks will an intern perform during the placement?
Interns will conduct nutrition interviews, calculate diet prescriptions, provide nutrition counseling, assist in data collection, and create nutrition-related projects, among other activities.
Are there any physical demands associated with this position?
Yes, the position involves desk work, computer use, patient interaction, and travel between facilities, with potential exposure to infectious and contagious diseases.
