Responsibilities

  • You will be based at Southampton General Hospital, Adanac Park (Bespoke unit being currently commissioned just off the M271) and other training sites as required to complete the programme. This may involve some travel and / or staying near another hospital for short periods of time.
  • Your Masters is completed at Manchester University.
  • You will need to be currently based in the Pharmacy Department and have the correct level of academic attainment as required by the National School of Healthcare Science, a minimum of a 1st class or 2:1 honours degree in a relevant subject.
  • This is an exciting opportunity for personal development and contribution to the new services being developed at Adanac park.
  • The Trainee Will Undertake The Full Training Programme In Order To Progress Through The Modules Of The Training Scheme. In So Doing They Will Learn How To Perform And Interpret Clinical And Specialist Scientific Processes Underpinned By Theoretical And Applied Knowledge And Practical Experience And Will Learn How To
  • Carry out complex scientific and clinical roles, including those working directly with patients.
  • Analyse, interpret and compare investigative and clinical options.
  • Make judgements, including clinical and differential judgements, involving complicated facts or situations that impact on patients.
  • Initiate and undertake innovation, improvement and R&D and be involved in the education of healthcare science trainees and other learners in the workplace.
  • You will do a 37.5 week mainly Monday - Friday, occasional weekend duties may be needed as part of your training.
  • You will need to be able to travel to other sites and be prepared to live away from home for short periods of 4-6 weeks.
  • You must be able to balance the demands of work and a Masters degree.
  • You will be entitled to a study day each week when not at University.
