Responsibilities

  • Bring an entrepreneurial and creative approach to developing new, innovative ideas with the goal of motivating collective organizational discussion and debate on pathways for growth.
  • Along with senior Corporate Development colleagues, help define and scope strategic initiatives by preparing thoughtful business cases, to ensure decisions are based on comprehensive financial and strategic analyses.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with business and functional teams and support the development of inorganic growth plans.
  • Foster collaboration between RBC’s business units and functions through regular engagement (e.g. through idea generation sessions), ensuring connectivity across business units and functions in support of inorganic growth.
  • Work closely with the Corporate Venture Capital team to ensure aligned focus in advancing RBC’s inorganic growth agenda.
  • Play an important role in strategic idea generation and review of potential acquisition and divestiture opportunities for strategic fit and value case.
  • Lead the preparation of strategic analysis of potential growth areas for RBC.
  • Lead the preparation of financial analysis, including building of company forecast models, assessment of synergies / dis-synergies, valuation analysis, and impact of acquisition / divestiture on RBC Group.
  • Assist in the execution of acquisition and divestiture transactions, including day-to-day coordination of transactions, leading due diligence efforts, and providing support on deal negotiations.
  • Prepare thoughtful analyses and recommendations on acquisition and divestiture projects for the Group Executive, Board of Directors and other senior members of RBC.
  • Interact with senior RBC business leaders, external advisors, counterparties and target companies.
  • Maintain good knowledge of market developments and industry dynamics and their impact on the Bank.
  • Partner with Investor Relations, Finance, Law Group and Enterprise Strategy on the development of public disclosures in relation to inorganic initiatives.
  • Support on valuation-related Enterprise initiatives including annual goodwill impairment testing, recovery and resolution planning and legal entity tax valuations, as required.
  • Provide support as required on other strategic initiatives and Bank projects.
