Requirements

  • Education:
  • HND, Degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Working Knowledge:
  • A background in either engine, transmission, or driveline design is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a mechanical design engineer or technologist role will be considered.
  • Functional Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD software, preferably PTC Creo.
  • Experience working within multi-disciplinary engineering teams and with suppliers.
  • Effective Communications:
  • Good communication skills with the ability to build relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Work with other Design Engineers and Senior Design Engineers to understand design and drawing requirements.
  • Create new CAD models and drawings for systems, sub-systems, assemblies, and components using Creo.
  • Investigate problems and concerns raised by other teams relating to existing products in the production environment. Gather facts from all available sources. Propose, agree, and implement solutions.
  • Interpret and apply engineering specifications appropriately.
  • Understand and apply good drawing practice, including geometric tolerancing.
  • Implement modifications to existing models and drawings via the engineering change process and Teamcenter. Maintain metrics relating to engineering change and continuous improvement tasks.
  • Create and present design reviews to colleagues from the wider engineering team and other associated departments.
  • Contribute to engineering reports and other similar documents.
  • Liaise with other departments, such as: manufacturing, purchasing, quality, inspection – as well as external suppliers.
  • Assist the team with customer support activities.
  • Work with Shrewsbury’s New Product Introduction (NPI) and project management team to define and adhere to timing schedules defined by engineering plans.
  • Support DFMEA activities.
  • Comply with laws and regulations relating to the control of data for military products.
