What is the role of a Clinical Technologist - Surgical Engineering?
The Clinical Technologist will provide specialist technical support for medical equipment across the Trust, maintain complex life support equipment, and train staff in the safe use of medical devices and workshop machinery.
What types of medical equipment will I be working with?
You will work with a variety of medical equipment, including defibrillators, gas therapy systems, specialist dental systems, birthing beds, and physiotherapy apparatus, as well as surgical instrumentation.
Will I be required to work outside of normal hours?
Yes, some work may require you to be available outside normal patient treatment times, and the service is provided up to 7 days a week, including on-call and overtime as necessary.
Is training provided for this position?
Yes, there will be opportunities for technical and educational training courses, which may involve travel to external venues.
What qualifications or skills are required for this role?
A high level of knowledge and understanding of electronic, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems is required, as well as experience in maintaining complex medical equipment.
Is personal transport necessary for this role?
Yes, properly insured personal transport is required, as the role involves duties at all Trust sites.
How is the recruitment process structured?
The recruitment process consists of a two-stage process involving Stage A with Q&A, followed by Stage B, which is a practical test.
