The primary responsibility of a Cloud Software Engineer at Splunk is to maintain and troubleshoot Splunk's SaaS system, monitor system stability and performance, perform maintenance and system upgrades, and manage server/storage deployments while collaborating with various teams within Splunk Cloud.
What experience is required for this position?
The position requires 4 to 5+ years of related experience with a technical Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, along with expertise in software development, data structures/algorithms, Unix/Linux, cloud and container experience, and infrastructure/configuration management as code.
What programming languages and tools should candidates be familiar with?
Candidates should be familiar with Golang and Ruby as the primary programming languages, as well as with RESTful APIs. Additionally, knowledge of configuration management or infrastructure as code tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Terraform, Amazon CDK, or Pulumi is also important.
Are there any preferred or "nice to have" experiences for applicants?
Yes, preferred experiences include familiarity with Terraform, multi-tenant infrastructure, Puppet, AWS, GCP or Azure, Python or Bash scripting, and experience with distributed programming.

The base pay range varies by location: - SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area: $146,400.00 - $201,300.00 per year - California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts: $131,760.00 - $181,170.00 per year - All other cities and states: $117,120.00 - $161,040.00 per year.
