Mission & Purpose

UCL is London’s leading multidisciplinary university, with a community of approximately 50,000 students and staff. Founded in 1826 in the heart of London, UCL was the first university in England to welcome students of any religion, and the first to welcome women on equal terms with men. We are a research-intensive university and a member of the UK’s Russell Group. We are a diverse community with staff from across the world, and are the only university to hold both a Silver Athena SWAN award and a Race Equality Charter Bronze Award. Join us to transform how the world is understood, how knowledge is created and shared and the way that global problems are solved.
