  • Education: Master’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, Business Administration or related field is required with appropriate experience.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of proven administrative experience in a multi-faceted health service industry is preferred. Minimum of 5 years of expert level practice as a Registered Nurse with a license in good standing with BCCNM is required.
  • In compliance with Order of the Provincial Health Officer (Pursuant to Sections 30, 31, 32, 39 (6), 54, 56, 57, 67 (2) and 69 Public health Act, S.B.C, 2008), proof of current vaccination against COVID-19.
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal skills in working with a diverse student and staff population.
  • Strong administrative skills that can be applied in a busy and challenging work environment. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, can be utilized as part of directing vision and guidance for campus health and wellness.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and administrative oversight to the professional services, educational and informational programs within TWU Health Services to support the health and well-being of students and foster healthy communities across the University by:
  • Working closely with the Executive Director and Director of CW to support operation and vision of the Wellness Center as a department
  • Recruitment, hiring, training, and annual evaluation of Health Services staff
  • Includes administering physician contracts per the BC Physician Master Agreement
  • Strategic planning and annual goal setting of Health Services and individual staff therein
  • Ensuring clinical, administrative, and information management policies, procedures and protocols are developed, communicated, and revised regularly to ensure area best practices
  • Development of new services based on regular needs assessment of the university community served
  • Oversight of inter-departmental collaborations including with the school of Nursing, Campus Security, and others
  • Budget and medical services billing oversight as well as revenue generation; provision of regular financial updates to the Executive Director
  • Human resource management within HS
  • Leadership in developing medical insurance enrollment systems
  • Oversight of Medical Surveillance Program and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) program
  • Ensuring health promotion information is evidence based, accessible, and relevant
  • Ensure the health and medical services of TWU comprehensively address the needs of the university community through:
  • Provision of primary health care services
  • Oversight of electronic health records and all activities related to ensuring the privacy and security of paper and electronic health records
  • Adherence to protocols for government health reports
  • Oversight of and ongoing advocacy pertaining to the Student Health Services contract provided by Fraser Health Authority to fund physician services in the Wellness Center
  • Ensuring all complaints or concerns are addressed promptly and thoroughly, maintaining a respectful approach in all aspects of quality assurance and control
  • Shared with the Executive Director and Director of CW, ensure appropriate policies and procedures are in place for risk management in all areas (e.g. personal and community health) of the Wellness Centre
  • Serve the broader University community and represent the Wellness Center both on and off campus as required; including but not limited to membership on committees, collaboration/leadership of joint efforts as needed, and participation in professional organizations (ex. CACUSS, ACHA, and the BC Student Health Leaders Group)
  • Guided by Student Health models including the Okanagan Charter: An International Charter for Health-promoting Universities and Colleges and the American College Health Association Healthy Campus Framework
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with provincial laws, Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) Standards and Ethical Guidelines for providing professional services/educational programs regarding the scope of health services’ staff, human rights, and accessibility law. Including but not limited to: Fraser Health Authority, Alternative Payments Subsidiary Agreement, Doctors of BC, and the BC College of Nurses and Midwives
