Responsibilities

  • Effectively create sourcing strategies in line with corporate goals and buying vision. Understand market conditions, recognize existing potential obstacles, challenge or shifts in business; Pivot macro strategies to align with ever-changing business priorities. Consider implications of new strategies across all business functions.
  • Translate corporate vision, goals and priorities and effectively communicates to the designated sourcing unit. Oversee and direct the activities of the team and communicate the overall sourcing strategy for products and merchandise. Provide guidance and empower teams to execute effectively.
  • Approve proposals of sourcing staff to participate in trade fairs and exhibitions. Optimize resources for these trips and coordinate foreign buyer participation at shows and manufacturer or factory visit. Analyze productivity of shows and subsequent orders. Participate in new vendor or manufacturing site visits as required.
  • Identify and drive implementation of continuous improvement initiatives with key suppliers in support of business goals - innovative cost savings, lead-time reduction, increased inventory turns, improved processes.
  • Research and travel to meet with new and existing factories and vendors to build relationships, review production capabilities and identify potential opportunities.
  • Build effective and high functioning teams; Assess strengths and development needs of team. Continuously coach and mentor team through sharing knowledge, leveraging resources, and providing specific and timely feedback.
