Responsibilities

  • The Financial Operations Senior Coordinator performs day–to-day fiscal activities for the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME). This position requires knowledge and ability to exercise judgment in the areas of procurement, travel, payroll, and general grants management without supervision to serve customers on a daily basis. Acts as department initiator and collects all pertinent information for fiscal activities related to procurement, travel, payroll, and general grants management. Evaluates inquiries and provides solutions from employees and vendors regarding financial, travel, and purchasing card policies and procedures. Serves as Center Procurement Card manager. Manages financial reconciliation. Prepares deposits. Collects and tracks appointment information for hiring students and staff. Assembles, maintains, and organizes files for financial transactions and records retention. Assists with financial reporting and preparation of financial statements for internal funds and external grants. Monitors fiscal activities and transactions from start to finish and follows up appropriately. Reviews all center balances to help determine salary appointments. Leads entire process for costing allocation changes, and sponsored cost share; ensures all supporting documentation conforms to University guidelines. As directed by the College of Engineering internal control structure, ensures segregation of duties in the processing of every transaction, appropriate mandatory approvals and reconciliation. Works with the College Business Operations Center (BOC) to ensure efficient processing of travel and procurement transactions. Provides a high level of customer service employees and visitors, to ensure requests are completed timely, efficient, accurate and in compliance. May perform or support office management duties including building access, inventory, and other general facility operational tasks, as needed. Trains and servers as resource of information for new and current BME employees on financial aspects of position.
