Responsibilities

  • Create a robust internal grants process onboarding training program, including written, video, and interactive materials that provide an overview of the full grants lifecycle within Harris County.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources (HR) to integrate grants onboarding training programming into the official HRRM process for all staff Countywide who will be supporting a grants function in any Department.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts in the County Attorney’s Office (CAO), County Auditor’s Office (AUD), Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Purchasing Office, and HRRM to collaborate in development of training programming and materials that accurately reflect each of their roles in the grants lifecycle.
  • Develop an ongoing grants training program with regularly-scheduled opportunities for Countywide grants staff to engage on grants topics of interest, grants management best practices and thought leadership, and continuing education credits with professional associations related to grant writing, grant management, programmatic compliance, and grant accounting.
  • Develop a Countywide conference dedicated to the topic of grants management, elevating subject matter experts from both within and outside of the County on relevant best practices and in-depth training opportunities.
  • Develop an internal professional development or certification program that allows for in-depth subject matter expertise development for Countywide grants staff in each phase of their grants career.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts in the County Attorney’s Office (CAO), County Auditor’s Office (AUD), Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Purchasing Office, and HRRM to collaborate on panel discussions and interactive trainings.
  • Support the Director, Grants Management in development of streamlined grants training workflows, socialize prospective changes with internal stakeholders, and manage deliverable production to support the associated policy approval process.
  • Collaborate with the Grants Production team, the OCA’s Technical Assistance & Performance (TAP) team, and HRRM to develop a real-time reporting function to measure and track assigned key performance indicators for the grants training function (ex: events / classes held, registration / attendance rates, number of internal grant certifications completed, number of continuing education credits earned, etc.).
  • Coordinate with the OCA Communications team to develop and update content shared with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with County departments and partners to identify and document grant training success stories.
