Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report on the implementation of the Schools (Health Promotion and Nutrition) (Scotland) Act 2007 through a programme of primary, secondary and special school inspection.
  • Contribute to the school inspection programme by providing independent evaluation and assurance about the standards and quality of learning in health and wellbeing through Curriculum for Excellence, in schools and their communities.
  • Take a lead role for food provision and food as a context for learning within health and wellbeing. Keep up to date with research, policy developments and act where necessary to share and promote key developments.
  • Work in partnership with several key organisations to support and promote improvements in food provision and food as a context for learning in Scotland’s schools.
  • Build capacity for improvement by identifying and sharing effective practice, developing materials and providing support to local authorities and their partners in the successful implementation the Health Promotion and Nutrition Act.
  • Work in collaboration with colleagues from across the organisation and provide support and expertise to other teams as required.
  • Contribute to professional learning activities for colleagues across the organisation and for local authorities, networks and others as appropriate.
  • Represent Education Scotland at meetings, conferences and other public events.
  • Ensure that the quality of Education Scotland’s services is of the highest standard at all times.
  • The post holder will be expected to undertake any task consistent with the post that may be required by the organisation.
