Responsibilities

  • The nursing assistant will be expected to take an active role during the endoscopy lists, assisting the team to ensure the room is ready for the list, labelling and sending off specimens, assisting with transporting patients to the ward and with patient care.
  • They will be required to carry out telephone pre-assessments for children and young people scheduled for endoscopy, alerting the clinical nurse specialists of any issues.
  • The nursing assistant will be required to take height and weight measurements for children and young people attending for infusion treatments, as well as preparing and cleaning up the infusion room.
  • The nursing assistant will be responsible for ensuring adequate supplies to the children’s medical day unit and liaising with the ward housekeeper.
  • They will be allocated to add the pending admissions for children and young people attending the Children's Medical Day Unit.
