What is the primary mission of the Ken Patrick Professional Development Program?
The mission of the Ken Patrick program is to build the next generation of world leaders for CAE by providing top university graduates in engineering and computer science with an accelerated development pathway through four intensive assignments across different CAE business units.
Who is eligible to apply for the Ken Patrick Program?
The program is designed for new graduates with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, preferably in fields such as software, computer, electrical, aerospace, or mechanical engineering.
What are the key professional experiences included in the program?
The program includes a variety of professional experiences such as object-oriented programming in C++ and C#, web and cloud technologies, agile methodology, CAD and mechanical/electrical design, continuous improvement practices like lean and six sigma, quality assurance, tests and integration, as well as budget monitoring and project management.
What qualifications does the ideal applicant possess?
The ideal applicant should have an excellent academic record, strong problem-solving abilities, a willingness to take on new challenges, leadership and initiative demonstrated through academics and extracurricular activities, creativity and innovation, strong organizational skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be bilingual in English and French.
Are there any specific additional assets that would benefit applicants?
Yes, beneficial assets include co-op or internship experience in a related field, a master’s degree, and training in artificial intelligence.
What kind of support will participants receive during the program?
Participants will receive regular coaching from a second-level manager, support from their peers and program colleagues, and will have the opportunity to define their skills development focus with the help of their coach.
Does participation in the program have any vaccination requirements?
Yes, as the work performed may occur on customer sites where vaccination is required by the Government of Canada, there is a condition of employment for participants to be fully vaccinated.
What opportunities for skill development does the program provide?
The program allows participants to acquire a variety of technical skills, expand their leadership abilities, develop a focus on innovation and problem-solving, and diversify their work experience through multiple assignments.
What kind of problem-solving skills are expected from applicants?
Applicants should demonstrate a strong ability to find multiple solutions to technical problems and the capability to select the best solution for the specific circumstances of a project.
What does the program offer in terms of networking opportunities?
Participants will interact regularly with their peers, present their accomplishments to other program participants and senior management, providing valuable networking opportunities within the CAE environment.
