Requirements

  • Qualified to practise in English law, with at least two years' PQE.
  • A genuine interest in working for a leading business news and information organisation.
  • Strong understanding of commercial law and contract law principles.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of legal issues relating to advertising and brand licensing.
  • Familiarity with data protection laws, including GDPR, as they apply to commercial contracts.
  • Able to handle the demands of a fast-paced in-house role.
  • Confident, articulate, credible and commercially-minded, with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Trained at a leading UK law firm.
  • Some in-house experience.
  • Experience in reviewing advertisements for publication.

Responsibilities

  • You will be the main legal contact working with key stakeholders in several areas of FT's Commercial division: Advertising (including negotiating high-value advertising and partner content deals), Commercial Strategy & Insight, FT Studio, and the Board Directors Programme.
  • You will also be the main legal contact for FT's Brand and Communications division (including advising on brand deals, brand licensing and third-party use requests).
  • This is a 12-month fixed term maternity cover position, ideally with an early/mid-September start.
