Responsibilities

  • It’s hard to write a definitive list because as the Octopus Energy Group continues to evolve at pace, so does the type of work we support. We’re looking for someone who is smart, versatile and up for the challenge of working on a wide variety of different transactions.
  • You’ll also need to be able to lead on the drafting and negotiation of a variety of commercial contracts such as:
  • You’ll help provide ad hoc advice for all the interesting queries that an in-house legal team can expect to receive, such as data protection, competition, compliance, employment, office expansion and intellectual property matters.
  • Help us build the legal function globally as we continue to grow overseas and enter new countries.
  • We are not a “post-box” in-house team, we try and do as much work as we can ourselves. However, we do use a small panel of external law firms to support us on larger or more specialist transactions. You will be closely involved in these transactions, helping to select, liaise with and manage our external counsel, bringing your commercial understanding of the business to the legal process.
  • You’ll be reporting to our General Counsel, but will work closely with the business across all levels of seniority.
