What is the duration of the Microsurgical Clinical Fellow position?
The position is for 12 months, starting in February 2025.
Is the position approved for formal training?
Currently, the position does not carry SAC or college approval for training but may count as Out of Program Training with necessary approvals.
What will be the primary focus of the fellowship?
The primary focus will be on gaining training in microsurgical reconstruction, with 2-3 days allocated for this purpose each week.
Will the fellow have opportunities to assist in other areas of the department?
Yes, one day a week will be allocated for other duties within the department, including trauma and covering for absent colleagues.
Can the fellow participate in cosmetic surgery?
Yes, one day each week (or two half days) may be available for attending cosmetic surgery lists in the private sector, outside of the hours for this post.
How many consultants are in the Department of Burns & Plastic Surgery?
There are 21 Consultants in the Department.

Yes, as a senior trainee, the fellow is expected to assist junior trainees in oncological reconstructions and coordinate trauma and other cases.
