Responsibilities

  • You will be required to work closely with clinicians, specialist nurses, secretaries, and all members of the Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDT) and associated departments, to ensure that patients on a cancer pathway are proactively managed throughout their pathway in a timely manner.
  • You will be required to coordinate the patient journey from referral, through diagnostics, treatment planning and treatment, highlighting any potential delays in the pathway promptly.
  • The post-holder will coordinate all aspects of the patient pathway and be responsible for prioritising work, reviewing work practices, setting up, managing and ensuring effective running of Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings.
  • In addition the MDT Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring all cancer patients are monitored and tracked, maintaining the Somerset Cancer Register (SCR) database and ensuring information is communicated to the appropriate clinical and administrative staff within the Trust.
  • The post holder will highlight relevant patients for discussion at the MDT meeting with the clinical teams.
  • The Multi-Disciplinary Team Coordinator (MDTC) will provide a comprehensive administrative service to support and cover MDTs and Patient Pathway Coordinators (PPC) to ensure the effective management of accurate and timely data to enable clinical decision-making at MDT meetings when required.
