What is the duration of the skull base fellow position?
The position is for 12 months initially, but may be extended.
What types of procedures will I be involved in during this fellowship?
The fellowship will provide experience in anterior and lateral skull base extended endoscopic procedures and pituitary pathologies.
What qualifications are required for this position?
Applicants should have previous neurosurgery registrar experience (or equivalent), full MRCS, and experience working within the NHS.
Will I be working as part of a team?
Yes, you will be part of a team that includes run-through trainees and other trust grade doctors, and you will work closely with consultants and multi-disciplinary teams.
Is there an on-call component to this role?
Yes, the post holder will contribute and supervise the on-call rota and will be part of a senior tier on-call rota at Queen's Medical Centre.
Who will provide support for my career progression?
You will be allocated a Clinical Supervisor who will help identify career progression opportunities and provide work-based assessments.
How busy is the Nottingham neurosurgery department?
The Nottingham neurosurgery department is one of the busiest in the country, carrying out around 2000 neurosurgical emergency, urgent, and elective operations a year.
What facilities are available in the neurosurgery department?
The department has 4 modern fully equipped theatres, an emergency theatre, and access to advanced technology including neuro navigation systems, intraoperative ultrasound, and intraoperative MRI.
