What qualifications are required for the Patent Attorney position?
The preferred minimum qualification is that candidates should be Chartered and European Patent Attorneys, ideally with experience in the relevant technologies since joining the patent profession. Applicants with just UK or European qualification, or those with one or two exams remaining, will also be considered.
What type of work will a newly qualified Patent Attorney be doing?
The work will primarily involve drafting patent applications, along with prosecution and advisory work such as freedom-to-operate, infringement, and validity assessments. There may also be opportunities to handle registered designs work and participate in secondments with UK-based clients.
Where is the office located?
The position is based in the Bath office of EIP.
What is the working schedule for this position?
The role follows a hybrid working model, with three days in the office and two days working from home.
What kind of experience is preferred for applicants?
Candidates should have significant experience in drafting patent applications related to mechanical technologies and ideally experience with direct clients. A background in mechanical engineering is preferred but not essential.
