Responsibilities

  • Working closely with Via’s external payroll partner, drive the monthly payroll process for Via in Germany. In doing so, work closely with Via’s Finance and People teams to ensure accurate and timely reflection of payroll submissions.
  • Understand German tax requirements, changes in wage and tax laws, and other regulatory changes and requirements that may impact payroll.
  • Perform periodic audits of our payroll data to ensure accuracy of employee pay information. Design and implement process improvements and internal controls to the payroll process.
  • Ensure benefit deductions and tax withholdings are calculated and reported timely and accurately.
  • Lead all aspects of the monthly financial reporting process as it relates to payroll, such as preparing journal entries and reconciling general ledger accounts.
  • Serve as the main point-of-contact for employees on questions relating to pay.
  • Perform ad-hoc projects and other assignments as needed to support the broader team.
  • Exercise the highest degree of confidentiality regarding all payroll information and employee privacy initiatives.
