Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in People Operations/Human Resources or related field; PHR Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of Three (3) years’ People Operations/Human Resources generalist experience including employee relations, full cycle recruitment, workers’ compensation, leaves of absence, benefits, compensation and training. Experience in an education setting is preferred, with a broad-based knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulatory requirements in areas included but not limited to FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Workers’ Compensation, ERISA and OSHA as well as school-based regulations.
  • Requires flexibility and an ability to adapt to the demands of rapidly changing priorities. Must demonstrate use of sound judgement and be able to make quick and accurate decisions independently;
  • Must have superior oral and written communication, analytical, customer service and organizational skills and an ability to function independently;
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of People Operations/HR/Payroll Information Systems and the use of standard technology and programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Systems oriented thinker, detail-oriented Servant Leader with exceptional customer service skills and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Consultation and Service Delivery including technical assistance, research and guidance to DESS Center managers, supervisors and staff in areas including recruitment, compensation, benefits, employee relations, retention, safety and communications and compliance.
  • Provides Employee relations counseling to employees. Conducts investigations, exit interviews and represents the organization in legal proceedings that involve unemployment, workers’ compensation, PHRC/EEOC or other actions involving employees and/or former employees.
  • Works collaboratively with National People Operations Director and Center supervisory personnel to develop and implement retention strategies
  • Maintains People Operations System records (Oracle) to include inputting, and manipulation of data for reporting and monitoring
  • Develops and implements employee motivation, celebration, recognition and reward activities and initiatives.
  • Identify, recommend, guide and / or implement organizational efforts to ensure compliance with federal, state and licensing agency regulations as well as school-based regulations. Maintain personnel records to ensure compliance with DESS and Devereux regulatory mandates.
