Responsibilities

  • The general role of the porter/driver is widely varied and consists of duties such as driving, meal delivery, item delivery, security (monitoring CCTV, patrolling premises, locking and securing same, issuing keys, assisting with gritting) waste management, at times transfer of patients in and around some hospital areas, the transportation of: linen, specimens, stores, equipment and supplies etc.... The porters also coordinate all internal and external mail and assist as a presence in incidents related to violence and aggression.
  • This role in particular is for the laundry delivery/collection service, which operates between NHS Ayrshire & Arran hospital sites and some other locations. A driving license is essential for this role.
