Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for project procurement activities for Indian Railways & Metro Rolling Stock orders incl. EMU, MEMU, Trainsets, Metros, Locomotives etc. falling under Rolling Stock Business Unit.
  • The responsibilities will include:
  • Ownership of strategizing and negotiating with suppliers and vendors to acquire the most cost-effective solution
  • Extensive experience of managing Indian Railway vendors & understanding their approval process
  • Strong understanding of Indian Railways / Metro supplier base in Indian and overseas
  • Strong understanding of key commodities like transformer, cables, magnetics, weldments, electronics, capacitors, resistors etc.
  • Ensure continuous and timely supply of required materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations
  • Lead and manage purchasing operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning, sourcing and engineering departments to solve complex material supply issues
  • Ensure timely generation of requirement in the ERP system and coordinate with internal stakeholders to release the order to suppliers
  • Track and drive necessary engineering BOM releases to enable on-time procurement of all required material
  • Partner with suppliers, project managers, and quality for un-interrupted delivery of parts to production
  • Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery and invoice issues
  • Document and follow-up shipping reports from suppliers and monitor the inbound tracking of critical supply
  • Provide clear and concise data analysis (report or presentation) to project and business managers to support them on supply-chain decisions
  • Proactively manage suppliers where delivery dates are at risk by escalating within the supplier organization to identify and evaluate opportunities to improve deliveries
  • Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures
  • Interpret internal / external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes or services
