Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinating the delivery of a transition to work Supported Internship programme based at Bedford Borough Council in partnership with Project Search, Bedford Borough Council and Mencap, for young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities
  • Securing appropriate rotations within the host business in line with students interests and skills
  • Delivering an employability curriculum which embeds English and Maths
  • Working with Bedford Borough Council and Project Search to secure successful outcomes for all students at the end of their programme
  • Identifying internship sites within Bedford Borough Council so that students can participate in a variety of work experiences to build marketable, competitive skills that can lead to paid employment
  • Developing opportunities that will increase job specific skills, work quality and productivity
  • Planning with students, families and support services to determine career interests, specific job preferences (hours, location etc.), skills and abilities to develop an individualised approach to employment. Including completion of annual reviews
  • Performing specific workplace analysis, job analysis, task analysis, and job matching activities to support and develop appropriate placements
  • Delivering employability skills such as communication, problem solving, teamwork, grooming, budgeting and self-advocacy
