What is the primary focus of the Research Nurse/AHP role?
The primary focus of the Research Nurse/AHP role is to support the recruitment and follow-up of patients in cancer and haematology studies, including both academic and industry-sponsored clinical trials.
What qualifications or experience are preferred for this position?
Ideally, candidates should have recent experience working in Clinical Research or demonstrate a real passion for research.
Will there be opportunities for training in this role?
Yes, training will be provided to fulfill the role effectively.
Who will I report to in this position?
You will be line managed by the Band 7 Team Lead Research Sister.
Will I be working alone or as part of a team?
You will work closely with Consultants, Registrars, the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT), and the Research and Innovation Team to promote clinical research across the Trust.
Are there any on-site requirements before applying?
Yes, visits to the department are highly encouraged prior to shortlisting.
What type of work can I expect to do on a day-to-day basis?
Day-to-day duties may include identifying, screening, consenting, recruiting patients, conducting follow-ups, and entering data onto spreadsheets and data collection forms.
Is there a possibility of cross-site working?
Yes, some cross-site working may be incorporated into this role.
Will I need to attend meetings as part of this job?
Yes, you will be expected to attend local Clinical Research Network meetings as well as Investigator meetings.
What kind of environment should I expect while working in this role?
You may often work in stressful situations and at short notice when engaging clinical staff to facilitate recruitment into clinical studies.
