Responsibilities

  • The core activity of a decontamination unit is the decontamination, assembly, packaging and sterilisation of re-useable medical devices.
  • Cowlairs CDU provides a full decontamination/sterilisation service to Theatres, Clinics and Community services within the Glasgow area of the Health Board.
  • The Unit reprocess, on average, 12 million reusable instruments per year.
  • The post will be required to work and cover all GG&C Satellite stores and CDU Stores which will involve the receiving and safe handling of sterile and non-sterile equipment from theatres and Clinics prior to transportation to Cowlairs Decontamination unit.
  • Post will involve good communications with theatres and CDU Customer Service and the Production team.
