Responsibilities

  • Managing a team of directly employed and indirectly employed design engineers and technical specialists.
  • Working with the ‘Major Projects Operations Manager' and ‘Customer Networks Manager' to ensure their teams capacity and capability match their requirements.
  • Timely reporting/communication to ‘Major Projects' and ‘Customer Networks' on progress, costs and risks as they evolve.
  • Responsible for input to project programmes and monitoring of same throughout the design phase.
  • Creation and sign off, of teams/third party design scope and/or programmes, and subsequent monitoring and control; to ensure works are delivered, to agreed timescales and cost.
  • Monitoring, control, and communication of work outside of scope that would be a chargeable variation.
  • Producing monthly reports detailing design progress on each scheme.
  • Work with Business Development team to assist with estimates and tenders.
  • Managing competence, training, and development of design team.
  • Working with clients, Network Operators/Owners (IDNOs, DNOs, TNOs and Private Network operator/owners) to determine and agree responsibilities and scope of design works.
  • Lead the design of projects and bids as required.
  • Guide the customer through the design process.
  • Obtain technical or major procurement item quotations.
  • Attend design reviews, design team meetings, and project meetings.
  • Promote and maintain a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
