What is the role of the Teacher of Art and Design?
The Teacher of Art and Design will plan, prepare, and teach lessons to assigned pupils, assess and report on their progress, engage with the wider School Curriculum, carry out administrative tasks, and demonstrate a commitment to professional development.
What qualifications are required for this position?
Candidates must be GTCS registered (or able to be), possess an appropriate degree, and have relevant teaching qualifications to teach from P7 up to a minimum of Higher Art and Design.
What subjects will the successful candidate be teaching?
The successful candidate will teach Art and Design, which includes a variety of media, and may also include Photography at either Higher or GCSE level.
Is experience in teaching necessary for this position?
Yes, the ideal candidate should have experience of teaching Art and Design to Higher level, and experience in teaching Photography is desirable but not essential.
What is the structure of the Art and Design Department?
The department consists of three teaching staff: the head of department, an art technician, and an artist in residence, all of whom encourage independent creativity and confidence in pupils.
