What are the main responsibilities of the Transportation Engineering Specialist?

The main responsibilities include managing the District's Highway Development Program, reviewing project documents, determining cost estimates, monitoring projects on the 5-year plan, providing input on project needs, assisting during the construction phase, and participating in stakeholder meetings.

What knowledge, skills, and abilities are required for this position?

Required knowledge includes principles of civil engineering, federal and state statutes and policies related to project management, and proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office tools. Skills include interpreting technical documents, written and verbal communication, time management, and interpersonal relations. The ability to maintain professional relationships, self-management, data analysis, and participation in a team environment is also necessary.

What educational background is preferred for applicants?

A Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering or a closely related field is preferred, or three (3) years of experience equivalent to a Transportation Construction Tech 3 or above, or completion of the ADOT Engineer-in-Training (EIT) program.
