What qualifications do I need to apply for the training contract?
You can apply with either a law or non-law degree. If you have a non-law degree, you need to graduate by Summer 2025 and complete a PGDL, followed by a full-time LLM (SQE1&2) before joining in September 2027. Law graduates without postgraduate study will also need to complete the full-time LLM (SQE1&2) prior to the training contract.
How long is the training contract?
The training contract consists of four six-month seats, offering a well-rounded exposure to various areas of law.
What kind of training will I receive during the contract?
You will receive a mix of on-the-job learning, formal training sessions, supervision and mentoring from experienced solicitors, along with coaching sessions from the talent development team.
Where can I be based during my training contract?
You can be based in our Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Nottingham, or Reading offices. There is also an opportunity for a split role between our Reading and Guildford offices.
What is the application deadline for the training contract?
The application deadline is 31st January 2025.
What does the assessment process involve?
The assessment process includes an online application form, an interactive assessment, a video assessment, an assessment center, and a summer vacation placement.

Yes, you will engage directly with clients from day one, which will help you build confidence and professional networks while enhancing your client-care and communication skills.
Is there a salary for the training contract?
Yes, there is a competitive remuneration package for trainees, along with opportunities for an annual bonus based on individual performance.
Does Gateley offer visa sponsorship for this role?
No, due to changes in the UK Government’s minimum salary requirements, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this level of role.
