  • - A Bachelor’s Degree in general education, paralegal studies, law, social science, nursing, medical coding, business administration, or a related field
  • - One year directly reviewing, evaluating, investigating, and processing Washington workers’ compensation, or a related field

  • - An Associate Degree in general education, paralegal studies, law, social science, nursing, medical coding, business administration, or a related field
  • - Two years directly reviewing, evaluating, investigating, and processing Washington workers’ compensation, or a related field
  • - OR
  • - Three years directly reviewing, evaluating, investigating, and processing Washington workers’ compensation, or a related field
  • - Additionally, in accordance with WAC 296-15-350:
  • - Professional designation as a (self-insured) Certified Claims Administrator in the State of Washington (this professional designation must be maintained throughout tenure in this classification)
  • - OR
  • - Within 6 months of hire, you must begin working toward achievement of certification as a Certified Claims Administrator through a comprehensive goal-oriented curriculum approved by the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries to achieve certification within two years

Responsibilities

  • Delivering customer-focused service to all claim parties to achieve positive outcomes
  • Acting in a fair and equitable manner with employees throughout an organization
  • Successfully resolving open claims of varied complexities
  • Adjudicate workers’ compensation claims through well-developed action plans and appropriate and timely resolution in accordance with Title 51
  • Maintaining claims management organizational practices, file coding, case management, and record keeping
  • Hire, direct, and monitor independent professional consultants
  • Systematically review for appropriateness of new vocational referrals on claims
  • Facilitate return to work opportunities with employing departments
  • Submit requests for suspension or termination of benefits as necessary
  • Evaluate medical and legal information to determine when the claim can be closed
  • Be self-motivated while utilizing sound judgement and independent decision-making in your claims management
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while creating positive working relationships
  • Manage multiple priorities quickly while ensuring deadlines are satisfactorily met
