 Role summary/purpose of job  The Early Careers Development Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day smooth running of various aspects of the trainee associate (solicitor) life cycle, from law school through to qualification as an associate. This is a key role within the firm’s Early Careers function, which manages the recruitment and development of the firm’s population of 180 trainee associates.

    To build strong relationships with our prospective and current trainees, offering personal and professional advice and support from the point of offer acceptance up to qualification
   
  
   
    To support the trainees in maximising their potential and to support the firm in enabling as many trainees as possible to qualify at the firm, in order to deliver the best return on the firm’s investment in its trainee population
   
  
   
    To build effective working relationships with the Training Principal, Trainee Team Partners, Trainee Intake Partners, Review Partners and the HR Business Partners across the firm.
   
 
 
 
  Key responsibilities
 
 
  
   
    Managing the firm’s cohort of prospective trainees through law school
   
  
   
    Running “keep in touch” events with prospective trainees
   
  
   
    Liaising with the firm’s appointed law school to ensure successful progression through the firm’s law courses (PGDL and CCP)
   
  
   
    Managing and delivering the firms trainee induction programme
   
  
   
    Co-managing the six-weekly mid-seat review and three-monthly review process for all 180 trainees, and providing advice and support to review partners and trainees
   
  
   
    Managing the firm’s secondment allocation process and working to deliver a successful network and client secondment roster
   
  
   
    Monitoring trainee performance and supporting trainees’ development areas through individual coaching meetings
   
  
   
    Managing matters relating to employee relations, including advice and support to the business
   
  
   
    Participating in HR projects, alongside representatives from a number of teams within the HR Department
   
  
   
    Attending Trainee Solicitor Partner/Trainee Team Partner forums and assisting with the implementation of any changes to processes in the trainee solicitor life cycle
   
  
   
    Supporting the Early Careers Recruitment team with recruitment campaigns, including providing statistics for marketing materials and publications, attending events and presenting to vacation visitors
   
 
 
 
  Requirements
 
 
  
   
    Ideally a graduate, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in an HR role in law or professional services
   
  
   
    Excellent operational skills and experience in dealing directly with internal clients
   
  
   
    Working knowledge of HR policies would be advantageous
   
  
   
    Good IT literacy: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
   
  
   
    Experience of working within a professional services organisation, partnership or blue-chip company is essential
